Wow! This past weekend I had an incredible shoot with a wonderful upcoming actress, Clarissa Sanchez. She was just full of expression and made for a fantastic subject to photograph. Here are a couple of the images from the shoot.

Inland Empire Headshot Session “Clarrisa”
Child Acting Information for Inland Empire ‘Part 1′
My son is an actor here in the Inland Empire. He has been working as an actor since the summer of 2007. Over that time period, my wife and I have learned alot about the business through trial and error.
When we started, we were overwelmed by what to do to help my son become successful. We first wanted to know, “does my son have what “it” takes to be an actor?” Many people feel that their child would be a great actor, but unfortunately, don’t possess the “it” factor that is needed to be successful in this business. If you get a number of people that really know the business, telling you your child has “it”, then probably your child does possess that quality. In my opinion, if they don’t have this naturally, they really won’t be able to just magically acquire this trait. And if that’s the case, then fine, you should be happy your child is who they are and look for other interests to pursue. But if they do have “it”, it is time to move on to ‘Part2′.
Inland Empire Wedding photography “Stretching the Boundaries”
Wedding photography in and of itself, can be rather self gradifying and really not very memorable for the people not participating in the big event. The main reason for this is that the majority of weddings are photographed in a cookie cutter style that for the most part, can make each seperate wedding if compared, seem almost indistinguishable. This is not necessarily the fault of the photographer, but really the product of the client being pressured into believing by society that you must have certain images taken during the event. This is an interesting and archaic way of modern society documenting an event that has for the most part gone unchanged for nearly two centuries except for minor cosmetic aspects. With that said, it is time to open up our minds and explore other ways of visually documenting and celebrating this event. As a photographer, I always long for the couple that are able to step over those boundaries, if only a little and see the endless possibilities couples can express themselves visually in a new different way. This is the twenty-first century, it is about time to push into some new frontiers!
Schelton Photography
Inland Empire Latina Female Model photoshoot
This past weekend, I had the fortune to shoot an upcoming model, Iris Lopez. She had never did a model shoot until working with me. She was a little nervous at first, but after warming up, she really opened up to the camera and had a wonderful shoot! She really impressed me with her natural ability. Here are few of the images I took during the shoot.

Big Santa Anita Canyon
I visited the Big Santa Anita Canyon for the first time the other day. I started my adventure at Chantry Flat. For those who have never been there, you get there by exiting off the 210 at the Santa Anita Ave. exit. and take that straight towards the mountains. My goal for the day was wear my son out and explore Sturtevant Falls and Hermit Falls. Since I’ve never been there, I really didn’t know what to expect. After driving a few mile up into the the canyon, you park at nice verdant area. My goal was to see the falls, so I began walking down the asphalt ‘trail/road to our destination. As you decend the road, you find yourself surrounded by a very dense cover of vegetation. Moss and ivy cover the rock walls of the canyon that lead down stream that is at the base of the canyon. Once at the bottom of the canyon you will pass a cool little cabin community. Then you continue on for a little while longer, and then you’ll find yourself at Sturtevant Falls.
Another trail that leads off from the main trail/road will take you to Hermit Falls. It is another verdant trail that will lead you past a few more settlement cabins on the way to the falls. The interesting thing about this area of the canyon is the grey granite that is exposed by the powerful water that courses through the canyon. The granite has been wore down to a marble like finish. Excellent for watersliding in the summer.

The ‘Wally’ Waldron Tree
I know this seems a little crazy, but this tree is the reason for this past weekends hike. It is known as the ‘Wally’ Waldron Tree. It is a Limber Pine and it is estimated to be over 1500 years old. The Limber Pines supposedly only live at altitudes over 9,000 ft., so their habitat is rather limited. Where this one lives is at the top of Mount Baden-Powell in the San Gabriel Mountains in Southern CA. The hike to get to this one is about 4 miles one way. On a beautiful day, that would be no problem, but on this day, the weather at the summit was rather inhospitable. However, I wanted it to that way for this photograph. I really think it adds to the overall magnificants to this ultimate survivor of the elements. after spending about 30 minutes exploring the summit, the howling wind had numbed my fingers to the point of being painfully useless. That was my que to depart this gloriously, frozen, mountain top to the warmth of lower elevations.

Claremont Child Headshot Session
Last week, I had the extreme pleasure of doing a headshot session for my wonderfully talented son, Evan Schelton
”http://evanschelton.com/Schelton.html/. He just signed with a new talent agency, http://www.danielhoffagency.com/Daniel Hoff Agency, Inc. and his agent, Ninna Sexsmith requested new headshots to help add some excitement for the crossover of representation. Ninna also suggested some workshops at http://www.talenthouseacademy.com/Talent House Academy with Mike Stevins as the Academy Director. Here are some of my favorite shots from the shoot.
